Greek authorities are considering confining tourists to special zones after locals have become fed up with drunken carousing and violence by foreign visitors.
The latest incident led to the fatal stabbing of a British tourist in Crete which instigated an outcry among locals, who are calling for tourists to be isolated in designated areas created for that purpose, rather than having partiers creating havoc in the community. The idea will be discussed at an upcoming summit that will be attended by the mayors of Greece’s top tourism hotspots.
