It’s been a wild couple of weeks in the world of gay penguins. First the Toronoto zoo separated out two male penguins engaged in courtship, sparking international condemnation. Now a much more heartwarming story: a China zoo has given a gay penguin couple a chick to raise.
A popular “gay” penguin couple in China has been given a newly hatched chick to care for. The male penguins were given the hatchling because a female penguin was struggling after giving birth to twins, which is rare for penguins.
It’s clear that this couple is ready to adopt; so ready, in fact, that they were going to get their baby one way or another:
The “gay” penguin couple has been known to try to steal eggs during hatching seasons, according to Metro.
Sounds like this could be a great set-up for a sitcom!
