Frontier Airlines recently “enhanced” its service by introducing new surcharges for carry-on luggage that can be as high as $100. According to the airline, one of the most prevalent complaints from its customers was the lack of space in overhead bins for their cabin baggage. So, with its customers in mind Frontier introduced the new fees which are bound to yield significant benefits…for the airline.
Okay, so it really gets under my skin when someone acts like they are doing you a big favour when in fact the gesture has far more to do with making themself happy. Presumably the fees are meant to deter people from bringing carry-on luggage aboard Frontier flights which will then free up some space — sort of like how expensive hotels are helping you out with high prices that keep the riffraff out. Except there’s nothing fancy about Frontier. But what if that doesn’t work? There’s really no guarantee that it will. Oh well, I guess the airline will just have to settle for raking in lots of extra dough, or doubling down and charging you even more.
Don’t want to pay these exorbitant fees for your carry-on baggage? Frontier has done you a solid by forcing you to book directly on the airline’s website instead of your booking method of choice.
