The Clover Hotel & Spa, a naturist hotel in England, was granted a license to serve alcohol despite the concerns of neighbours and some Birmingham city councillors. It seems that in their eyes the only good kind of nudist is a sober nudist, and it was argued that issuing the hotel a license, which permits it to offer live music and dancing in addition to serving alcoholic beverages, would lead to “inappropriate displays of flesh” and “become a magnet for troublesome individuals and youths.”
Allowing the hotel’s clientele, whose average age is 55 years old, to enjoy a tipple au natural could lead to the erosion of the community’s moral fiber and cause outright mayhem, or so objectors seem to be claiming. The majority of the licensing committee members did not buy into this argument and cited the lack of causal evidence in granting the permit. But what if the critics are right? This sounds like a hit reality show waiting to happen!
