One of the most tantalizing arcade games has been scaled up to gigantic proportions. It always looks so easy. Just position the claw and reap one of those alluring prizes that seem ripe for the picking once you deposit your money. Yet it’s always harder than it looks to snag a prize and usually ends in disappointment rather than triumph.

Now, imagine a version of the game that is several stories tall and has real, live human beings as the claw.
Stockpile is an interactive art exhibit that is part of the Luminato festival in Toronto, Canada. The enormous machine is located in the city’s financial district until June 22. The artists behind the project are the humans inside the device who act as the claw to grasp the prizes. An artist is suspended in a harness and players use the controls to manipulate the human-claw via a hoist.
Prizes were donated by Torontonians and consist of an oddball assortment of objects, such as a stuffed Tigger, and inflatable killer whale, and a prosthetic arm.
