It’s not the best time to need to get somewhere in Manchester, New Hampshire. In a decisive move, the city pulled all of its taxis — all 18 of them — off the road.
The drastic move was called for after several taxis failed mechanical inspection by police. The police then summoned all of the taxis to report for inspection. Seventeen of them had their permits revoked for mechanical violations, while one was suspended for not reporting for inspection.
Of the vehicles that were inspected, all of which failed, six were deemed not roadworthy and had to be towed. All of the vehicles had mechanical problems that caused them to be removed from service.
