Motivational speaker and all-around badass Ben Saunders admits to being a “polar expedition addict”. He does things most of us would never even dream of because … well, because he can. Things like claiming the title as the third person in history to ski solo to the North Pole and grabbing the record for the longest solo Arctic journey by a Briton. So if anyone understands the importance of grabbing life by the balls, it’s Ben.

But with so much technology at our disposal to virtually explore the world, it’s increasingly tempting for people to simply experience travel and to see the world second and third hand. For many, “Carpe diem!” is likely to sounds less like a rallying cry to live every day like it’s your last … and more like the latest special at Olive Garden.
