Gadling points us to this new and nifty Google Maps trick that’s great for road trippers:

Don’t like the route offered by Google Maps? Simply click on the blue line and adjust it accordingly. This is especially nice if you’re pulling up directions for someone else, and the route suggested isn’t the best available.
I wish I’d have known about this feature (if it did in fact exist) back in April when K and I drove back from Montreal. We headed up to Canada through our normal route – Vermont. But we decided to mix things up and return via New York. Using this feature, we’d have been able to determine roughly how much more time, if any, it would add to our trip.
Try it out – it’s pretty sweet!
