United Airlines claims human error is to blame after its fares were reduced to rates ranging from $10 to $0 for a brief period of time last week.
For approximately fifteen minutes on Thursday, customers booking flights on United Airlines’ website got discounts much deeper than what they were expecting and word quickly spread on the Internet.
It wasn’t clear initially if the airline would honor the bookings made as a result of the obvious error, but United Airlines has since pledged that the tickets are valid, meaning that some lucky customers will be flying to places as far flung as Hawaii for as little as $10 in security fees.
