Henry Ford knew he had a revolutionary idea when he conceived of the Model T. Visitors to Detroit can see where the Model T was born and the first 12,000 Fords were built at the Model T Automotive Heritage Complex (aka “TPLEX”) which has just opened for the season.
The Piquette Avenue Plant is where Henry Ford designed the Model T, and visitors can see his “secret room” where he kept his designs from drawing the attention of rivals. The facility was Ford’s first automotive assembly plant and is the only one of its kind that is open to the public.
