The catchy and perennially popular folk song “This Land Is Your Land” has inspired Americans to set out and explore their country since it was written in 1940. With the opening of the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, visitors will now be able to explore the history behind the music of the renowned artist who wrote more than 3,000 songs.
The new 12,000-square-foot museum is located in Tulsa’s Brady Arts District and opens on April 27th. It features interactive digital exhibits about Guthrie’s life and work, and showcases the historical context of the events that inspired his songs. The museum’s collection includes the Woody Guthrie Archives containing important artifacts such as the original handwritten version of “This Land Is Your Land” as well as artwork, notebooks, photographs and objects from famous musicians who were influenced by Guthrie.
