Bobbies in London’s buttoned-up Whitehall district eventually convinced a naked man to descend from his perch atop the head of an equestrian statue of Prince George, the Duke of Cambridge. Bystanders say the man was clothed when he clambered to the top of the statue then proceeded to disrobe while balancing precariously on the historic figure.
A significant area of Whitehall was closed off for three hours during the incident on Friday, while Scotland Yard and mental health officials dealt with the situation. The man, later identified as Dan Morescu, and since been charged and will appear in court on Monday.
