An unauthorized limestone quarrying operation in Peru has destroyed a small section of the ancient Nazca Lines geoglyphs and damaged other portions of the famous drawings which are protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One trapezoid has been obliterated, and portions of lines damaged, however the Peruvian government has yet to step in and take action against the company which is operating illegally in the protected area.
